8 Bollywood Villains So Terrifying They Overshadowed The Heroes Of Their Film

The protagonist isn’t a hero until he faces a villain. While we know Bollywood’s hero and appreciate them, we also remember the villains. Most of the time they are underrated. They are hated, shown disgust but yet unforgettable.
Afterall, what is Bollywood without its famous villains?! There are several antagonists who have left their mark in the history of Indian cinema.

1. Gabbar Singh (Sholay)

An iconic, classical movie, Sholay is still loved by many. While most of the talk about Jay-Viru’s friendship, Basanti, and Dhano; we can’t ever forget Amjad Khan in his portrayal of Gabbar Singh. His dialogue ‘Kitne aadmi the?’ still echoes in everyone’s mind.

2. Mogambo ( Mr. India)

Mr. India, another classic movie which was released in 1987. It still remains one of the must-watch movies in thriller category. It remains a classic cult in the cinematic history of Bollywood.
Apart from Sridevi’s amazing ‘Hawa Hawaii’ performance and the invisible watch, it was Amrish Puri who stole all the limelight. Mogambo is still considered as one of the top villains in Bollywood. His famous dialogue,  ‘Mogambo khush Hua’ is one of the most famous dialogues of Bollywood.

3. Prem (Bobby)

If you don’t remember Prem Chopra for this dialogue ‘Prem naam hai Mera, Prem Chopra’ then you really need to watch good movies. The movie introduced the genre of teenage romance to Bollywood with a theme of a rich-vs-poor clash as a backdrop. While it was Dimple Kapida who stole hearts in her debut movie, Prem stole the limelight as a villain.

4. Shakaal (Shaan)

While Kulbhushan Kharbanda has done some good roles, his role in Shaan was remarkable. Always seen as a good figure in the movies, most of them were quite surprised when he chose to be a villain. He had his own island with sharks and crocodiles. Shakaal was perhaps the first hi-tech villain in Hindi cinema.
Just as Sippy’s earlier film Sholay became synonymous with Gabbar, Shaan was famous for Shakaal.

Pran has played quite baddie roles as Shakti Kapoor, Prem and others, but what sets him apart is that he makes the character really believable, as if the character is really alive. In Ram Aur Shyam, he played the oppressive brother-in-law, the one that all the audience hated.

6. Gokul Pandit (Dushman)

Honestly, for me, this character was the scariest of all. Ashutosh Rana made this role believable as if this monster was lurking in our neighborhood. I got more careful after watching the movie.

7. Alauddin Khilji (Padmaavat)

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’ had stellar performances but it was Khilji who took the limelight. One glance at him and you could see the abashed, gruesome, killer Khilji. While Ranveer has versatility in his genes, it was this movie that showed us how good of an actor he is!

8. Bulla (Gunda)

‘Mere naam hai bulla, rakhta hu main khulla.’Bulla is probably the dirtiest villain Bollywood has ever had! One glance at the evil Bulla and you will be convinced that he is a devil and just plain dirty don.
